Your keys stay on your device. Always.
An invite-only web app for conversations that matter. End-to-end encrypted, zero distractions, and accessible directly from your browserβno downloads required.
Privacy-first architecture
KAIRO is a browser-first, invite-only messaging platform with end-to-end encryption, group conversations, and a calm interface designed for intentional communication.
No downloads, no installs. KAIRO runs entirely in your browser on any device β desktop, tablet, or phone.
Zero-knowledge architecture. Your cryptographic keys are generated and stored locally β we can never read your messages.
A closed, intentional community. No spam, no bots, no strangers β connect only with people you choose.

A seamless, zero-knowledge onboarding experience directly in your browser.
Enter your exclusive access key to bypass the gate.
Secure, passwordless entry linked to your trusted email.
Claim your unique @username and display name.
Start E2E encrypted, noise-free conversations instantly.
Sync cryptographic keys securely to your phone or tablet.
Every feature is designed to reduce noise, protect your data, and foster intentional connections.
Your messages are locked with keys only you and your recipient hold. We can't read them.
A closed network ensures quality connections. Access is granted solely through verified invite codes.
Send normal, locked, silent, or self-destructing messages. Control exactly how your words are received.
Find verified members across the platform instantly using their unique username without exposing phone numbers.
No algorithms, no unread counts screaming at you. Just clean, minimal typography that respects focus.
High-stakes actions like permanently wiping a chat, removing members, or deleting a group require mutual consensus votes.
Find users by @username and send secure connection requests. Both parties must accept before a conversation can begin.
Assign personal aliases to your contacts that only you can see. Organize connections on your own terms.
Browse your cached conversations even without internet. Messages sync automatically when you reconnect β powered by IndexedDB and PWA.
Switch between dark and light modes instantly. Your preference is remembered and applied everywhere.
Groups built for purpose β not for noise. Every group is encrypted, every member is verified, and every admin has full control.
E2E encrypted group messaging for up to 50 members using rotating sender keys. Every message, every member, fully protected.
Instead of a single admin, members propose changes like adding or removing users. The group votes securely to execute actions.
Each group generates unique encryption keys, automatically rotated when members join or leave. Zero trust by default.
Through mutual voting, a group wipe permanently shreds all group history across everyone's device. Gone forever.
A deep trust architecture built fundamentally on local cryptographic ownership.
AES-GCM 256 standard secures all payloads.
In-browser local key generation. No third-party libs.
Unique cryptographic fingerprints prevent MITM attacks.
Peer-to-peer secure linking without cloud passwords.
Expiring cryptographic keys rotated constantly.
Mutual agreement permanently shreds history.
Swipe through the secure protocol narrative.
When the message is too important for public algorithms, crowded inboxes, or data-mining platforms.
Private discussions, M&A strategy, and unfiltered feedback away from corporate tools.
A secure "message to self" space for raw thoughts, ephemeral ideas, and reflection.
Couples and tight-knit friend groups seeking a digital sanctuary away from noise.
Confidential collaboration, unreleased IP, and sensitive data sharing.
Rejecting the norms of modern messaging to build something intentional.
Endless red notification dots and algorithms designed to keep you scrolling rather than connecting.
Your private conversations are scanned to build advertising profiles and feed machine learning models.
Phone-number based networks mean anyone who has your digits can instantly intrude on your inbox.
Monochrome design, no unread counts, and focus-first architecture respects your mental bandwidth.
If we are breached, there is nothing to steal. We cannot read, share, or monetize your encrypted messages.
Invite-only access and username-based discovery ensures you only connect with those you actually intend to.
Why KAIRO exists in a world of WhatsApp, Telegram, and Discord.
| Core Philosophy | KAIRO | Traditional Apps |
|---|---|---|
| Design Goal | Intentional & Calm | Engagement & Noise |
| Network Model | Closed / Invite-Only | Open / Number-based |
| Data Ownership | Zero-Knowledge (You own it) | Mined & Monetized |
| Data Deletion | Mutual Cryptographic Wipe | One-sided "Delete for me" |
| Interface | Minimal typography | Red badges & pop-ups |
KAIRO is built on a browser-first architecture. We couldn't read your messages even if we wanted to. Your keys never leave your device.
Messages are encrypted locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API. Only ciphertext touches our servers. Keys are exchanged securely via public-key cryptography.
Planned Q4 2026
We store metadata temporarily for delivery. Messages are stored as undecipherable blobs.
Link your phone or secondary browser securely without transmitting master passwords or unencrypted keys via our servers.

Awaiting Key Transfer
A randomly generated 6-digit code acts as the bridge. No passwords to remember or leak.
Keys are encrypted with a temporary shared secret before being transported to the new device.
Lost all devices? Generate completely new keys and start fresh to maintain absolute security.
True privacy means the right to be forgotten. In KAIRO, if both parties agree, the entire conversation history is permanently cryptographically erased from both browsers and the server.

End-to-end encryption guarantees only you and the recipient hold the decryption keys.
Your data resides in your browser's secure IndexedDB. The cloud is merely a temporary highway.
Utilizing standard Web Crypto APIs open for inspection in your browser's developer tools.
We optimize for meaningful connection, not rapid-fire reaction. No read receipts, no online status anxiety.
Technology should respect your attention. A monochrome interface with absolutely zero algorithmic feeds or red notification dots.
Not an opt-in setting. Total encryption and zero-knowledge architecture is the foundation of the platform.
The messaging space is dominated by giants whose business models rely on reading metadata, analyzing connection graphs, and keeping you endlessly engaged with algorithmic feeds. KAIRO is a rejection of that model.
It started as an experiment: Could a fully functional, end-to-end encrypted messaging app live entirely within the browser without requiring a heavy app download? Using native Web Crypto APIs, the answer is yes.
I design software following the principles of "Calm Technology." Tools should respect our focus, perform their single function flawlessly, and remain invisible when not in use. KAIRO doesn't want to be the app you spend all day on. It wants to be the app you trust with the conversations that matter.
KAIRO is currently operating a closed network. Join the waitlist to receive your exclusive cryptographic access key. Current expected wait time: ~2 weeks
Priority access granted to builders and students. No spam. Unsubscribe anytime.
I became frustrated with "engagement-first" messaging. Every app felt like it was screaming for my attention with red dots and infinite scrolls. I personally felt the lack of a space that was just... quiet.
The idea for KAIRO started as a weekend experiment in 2025. I wanted to see if I could build a platform where privacy wasn't an "opt-in" feature, but a fundamental design constraint. Privacy matters to me because it's the foundation of true vulnerability and honest conversation.
Software should do one thing perfectly. Feature-bloat is just noise in disguise.
Your software should respect your focus, not compete with your surroundings.
If you don't build privacy into the database schema, it doesn't exist.
Exploring the Web Crypto API was a deep dive into browser limits. Solving for zero-knowledge key management without sacrificing UX was the hardest problem.
What surprised me was how much we've normalized over-complex backends. KAIRO proves that a local-first, encrypted approach can be faster and more robust than traditional server-heavy models.
I build side projects to scratch my own itch. I'm deeply inspired by the "Small Web" movement and books like Digital Minimalism. When I'm not coding, I'm exploring the intersection of philosophy and product design. I believe we've barely scratched the surface of what intentional software looks like.
I'm looking for feedback from builders, testers, and security researchers. If this mission resonates, let's collaborate.
